Can you explain the answer behind the 400mm center t’s I think the answer could be wrong as I make it 370mm answer say 384 - my working is 400mm minus half of 2 t’s to make 46mm (354mm) add on the x2 8mm socket depth (16mm) gave me 370mm Many thanks

Heating is not plumbing. It's pipe fitting. Plumbing is sanitary drains, storm drains, sanitary vents, and potable water supply, period.

I think UK plumbing courses need updating urgently. Alot of the information in this video is very out of date. New apprentices should be taught about the installations they are fitting, not just the ones they are taking out.
Hi Duane, I agree that the curriculum needs updating. However, this content is currently relevant and is for the level 2 City & Guilds qualification. level 3 is more about newer installations and renewables.

Hi Ben, No only C as table B has low carbon steel in it. low carbon steel would contaminate the hot water when it rusts , that is why table C has Galvanised pipe which is low carbon steel that has been galvanised so it does not rust and contaminate the water
The distance between the centers of two equal tee fittings on a Copper pipe is 400mm the X dimensions of the tee fitting is 10mm The actual length of pipe is 385 mm how did you get the answer?
Meant 380 mm*
The answer is 380mm this is what shows on the video, (at minute 7.45) 400mm-10mm -10mm = 380mm
The x dimension is from where the pipe stops to the centre where you are measuring too, if this is 10mm then you need to take off 20mm as there are 2 tee’s Do you understand what a “X” dimension is ?

No worries, just remember that “x” dimensions are different for tee’s or elbows and should be measured to get precise measurements. Also, on Low carbon steel fittings LCS they are referred to as “Z” dimensions

The question at 6:40. I don't understand... this is what i got 4D (15x4)= 60 60x2x3.14= 376.8 /4= 94.2 500 + 400= 900 900- 95 (rounded up) = 805 where have i gone wrong?
Hi, it states on the diagram the radius of the bend is 90mm. - 90 x 2 x 3.14 / 4 =141.3mm Then 141.3 + 500 + 400 = 1041.3mm (1041mm) City and guilds will do this in exams,. Normally the radius would be 4D of the pipe. However, take note of what the diagram states.
The answer to the toilets questions is incorrect. HSE states that for 26-50 operatives it is one more than the answer you stated was correct.
